Scholarships at University of Tasmania for 2025/26 Academic Session
The fourth-oldest institution in Australia is the Institution of Tasmania (UTAS). The university, which has over 34,000 students, offers a lively campus life and an innovative and engaging learning environment. The University of Tasmania offers a completely internationalized curriculum and wide access to various degrees, student exchanges, and learning experiences to mold future world leaders while preserving a distinct Tasmanian identity.

Tasmanian International Scholarship
The Admissions Team will automatically evaluate all international students applying for an undergraduate degree (except those enrolled in the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine, AMC Seafaring courses, and Bachelor of Dementia Care) for the TIS Scholarship. International students pursuing postgraduate coursework degrees are also eligible for this scholarship.
Furthermore, candidates are evaluated automatically for the Tasmanian International Scholarship when they submit their application for international study. Applicants will be chosen for this scholarship based on their academic performance in secondary, diploma, and degree-level coursework. This scholarship covers a 25% reduction in tuition fees for the whole duration of the program.

Applicable Courses: All courses except Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine, AMC Seafaring courses, and Bachelor of Dementia Care.

Eligibility
Applications are reviewed for all semester intakes, and a candidate’s highest qualifications before starting their chosen study program (minimum one-year duration) will determine their acceptance for this award. Please be aware that different countries may have different requirements and grading systems. However, note that:
- You must have a full-time enrollment in any undergraduate program.
- You must be an international student.
- You must fulfill the university’s minimum academic requirements.
- You must not be enrolled at a University of Tasmania-affiliated Transnational Education (TNE) partner institution.
- You must not receive other scholarships from the University of Tasmania or other funding.
- You must be starting your program’s first year in 2025.
Entry Requirements
- Every foreign student who wants to enroll in the university must be able to speak English.
- Completing credentials comparable to the 12th year in Australia is a prerequisite for admission to undergraduate programs at the University of Tasmania.
- Most postgraduate coursework programs at the University of Tasmania require applicants to have credentials equal to an Australian bachelor’s degree. Candidates must meet any prerequisite subjects and receive the necessary grades in their qualifying coursework to get an offer.

English Language Requirements
Here are the approved English language tests:
- IELTS
- PTE Academic
- TOEFL
- Cambridge C2 Proficiency
- Cambridge C1 Advance
- Cambridge B2 First
However, note that
- There is a minimal English language proficiency requirement for admission to all University of Tasmania courses.
- Additionally, applicants must fulfill each course’s academic entry requirements.
- The level of English proficiency required for some courses may be higher than others.
- The University has the right to require all applicants to take an English language test.
Regulations
If final results are submitted, offer letters will inform candidates if they have been selected for a scholarship. Successful TIS recipients will discover the scholarship terms and conditions in their offer information, which they should carefully review. Also, be aware that only new students are eligible for this scholarship. Existing students will not undergo reassessment by International Scholarships in light of their academic achievements at the University of Tasmania. Also note that:
- Applicants are not allowed to keep two scholarships for tuition fees. It is advised that the scholarship with the highest value be taken.
- Applicants who are not eligible for the 25% TIS Scholarship may qualify for other scholarships and reductions.
How to Apply
The Tasmanian International Scholarship does not need applicants to submit separate applications or to reapply for ongoing eligibility because the school immediately assesses students for it when they submit their International Student Application.
