International Scholarships at University of South Australia for 2025/26 Session
The University of South Australia is an active, globally connected university that offers creative, daring, and industry-informed research and teaching. UniSA welcomes exceptional students from developed nations who are sponsored by the Australia Awards. Over 2,500 students receive millions of dollars in grants and scholarships annually, which help shape students’ futures regardless of their background.
Vice Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship
As long as students are enrolling full-time for a maximum of four years (undergraduate or postgraduate degree via coursework), recipients will receive a 50% discount on their student payments (tuition costs). The application opens on August 5, 2024, and ends on November 30, 2024.
Award Value: 50% of tuition fees
Level of Study: Undergraduate or Postgraduate
Applicable Courses: Eligible faculties include – UniSA STEM, UniSA Creative, UniSA Business, UniSA Education Futures, and UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences.
Timeline: Application opens August 5, 2024, and ends November 30, 2024.
Eligibility
- Be a prospective international student.
- Not have taken any other UniSA scholarship.
- Fulfill the requirements for admission to the degree that you are applying for.
- Have obtained the UniSA equivalent of a high distinction average in previous studies.
- Fulfill the minimal requirements for English language proficiency for the degree you’re applying for.
- You will receive notification of the outcome and an evaluation of your academic degree if you have completed the scholarship application and met the qualifying requirements. You will still receive an application invitation if you are qualified but have not submitted the filled-out form.
Scholarship Conditions
- Scholarship recipients must enroll full-time at the UniSA campuses in South Australia.
- Scholarship recipients must maintain a GPA of at least 5.0 (or its equivalent) to be eligible for the payments.
- Payments for scholarships are available for a maximum of four years.
- The awardee will not receive the 50% discount on the subsequent billing if their overall GPA is less than 5.0.
- Should the recipient’s GPA rise back to 5.0 or higher, the 50% discount will be reinstated and applied to the subsequent invoice.
- At the beginning of the relevant study period, successful applicants will receive scholarship payments (50 percent of tuition fees) as a discount on their student contribution (tuition fee) invoice.
- Scholarship recipients are not eligible for credit, RPL, or advanced standing.
- Deferring the scholarship is not an option.
This scholarship is not available to
- Students sponsored by the Australian or foreign governments
- Australian citizens
- Current UniSA students
- Higher degree by research applicants
How to Apply
- Find your desired degree.
- Check the admission requirements. Confirm that you meet your degree’s entry requirements (English, academic, and degree-specific).
- Apply for your degree and send in your supporting documentation and your filled-out scholarship application.
- After submitting an application for an eligible degree, you will be automatically evaluated and notified if you are successful.
Suppose you meet the eligibility requirements for the Vice Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship and have filed the scholarship application form. In that case, you will be notified of the scholarship decision and your academic degree assessment. Students who are eligible for the scholarship but have not submitted the paperwork with their UniSA application can still apply.
The William T. Southcott Scholarship
The William T. Southcott Scholarship was founded by a bequest from Mr. William T. Southcott. The scholarship recipients are outstanding students pursuing a doctorate in practical engineering at UniSA. Being a prestigious scholarship, the winner must possess exceptional academic credentials, leadership potential, and award-worthy personal qualities.
Award Value
The student will get the $32,000 annual scholarship, which is tax-free, for a maximum of three years. Recipients are expected to finish their PhD program in three years. Still, if they encounter uncontrollable delays, the school may extend the scholarship to a maximum of 3.5 years beyond that time frame. The recipient may request an extension from the university; extensions are not given out automatically. Another one-time sum of $3,000 will be available to cover minor expenses, conferences, and study abroad fees associated with the research. This sum will be put into a fund for personal development.

Eligibility
Australian citizens, permanent residents, and international students can apply for the scholarship. Applicants must fulfill the requirements to be eligible for a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of South Australia. Additionally, candidates need:
- A strong academic record
- Effective communication skills
- Great leadership potential
The Selection Panel will interview and evaluate applicants based on a brief essay outlining their goals for the proposed research and its possible advantages for the industry.
