Located in northern Australia, Charles Darwin Institution (CDU) is a new world institution that is inclusive, inventive, creative, and sustainable. Vice Chancellor’s International High Achievers Scholarships

International students with a track record of academic success and brilliance are eligible for this scholarship. The scholarship covers half of the cost for the entire undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree. It cannot be refunded or transferred to another individual, semester, course, or year. 

Award Value: 50% of tuition fees

Applicable Courses: All 

Level of Study: Undergraduate and Postgraduate

Eligibility

  • Applicants must apply to start their studies in S1 or S2 2025 (whatever intake is given initially).
  • The applicant must fulfil the university’s academic and English language admission standards for the course they have selected.
  • The applicant must have completed their highest qualification with a minimum overall score of 95%. 
  • The applicant needs to be an international student.
  • The applicant cannot have any other scholarships from Australian or international sponsors.
  • Applicant should have up to 600 words of supporting statement explaining his/her qualifications for a scholarship.

Selection Criteria

  • Overall performance in their highest completed qualifications.
  • Supporting statements (up to 600 words) indicating why you should receive a scholarship.

Duration

The scholarship period is the shortest amount of time you can finish the course or when one of the following occurs:

  • The entire scholarship value has been used up.
  • You’ve finished your course.
  • You are no longer eligible to receive the scholarship.

Ongoing Eligibility

To keep the scholarship, the recipient needs to fulfil all of the requirements listed below:

  • Keep paying international student fees as an international student. 
  • On the first day of classes each semester, the payment deadline, they must pay their share of the tuition.
  •  Keep up good academic standing each semester, earning at least a 5.3 GPA and no failing grades in any units.
  • Maintain a 40-point (0.5 EFTSL) full-time enrollment each semester or obtain permission to take a semester-long leave of absence.

How to Apply

  • Apply to study your undergraduate or postgraduate degree at CDU
  • Apply for the VCIHAS
  • Your application result will be emailed to you within a month of the scholarship’s closing date.

CDU Global Merit Scholarship 2024 and 2025

Charles Darwin University (CDU) in Australia offers the CDU Global Merit Scholarship to new foreign Undergraduate, TAFE, Postgraduate (Coursework), and Higher Degree by Research students who start in 2024 or 2025 and meet the academic requirements.

Award Value: The scholarship pays 30% of the tuition for certain courses and is applicable to CDU courses.

Applicable Courses: All

Level of Study: Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Research Programs

Duration: The scholarship is available for the whole duration of the course program.

Timeline: The application closes on December 17, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

When applicants apply for an eligible course, they are automatically assessed. Also, Accepting the offer of study is necessary to start your studies during that intake. However, note that candidates must fulfil the academic and English language admission requirements set forth by the university for the course they have selected.

Terms and Conditions

1. International students participating in full-time award studies at CDU can receive the CDU Global Merit Scholarship.

2. Only students enrolled in TAFE, Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Higher Degree by Research programs are eligible for the CDU Global Merit Scholarship.

3. The following courses are not eligible for the 2025 Global Merit Scholarship: 

  • Diploma of Health Care/Bachelor of Nursing Bachelor of Nursing
  • Diploma of Health Pathway
  • Master of Nursing Practice (Pre-registration) Master of 
  • Diploma of Hospitality Management Certificate III in Baking
  • Nursing Studies (International) Master of Occupational Therapy
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery 
  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery 
  • Certificate III in Hospitality
  • Certificate IV Kitchen Management PhD by Prior Publication (PPP)

3. Only new students enrolled in their first course (or a group of related courses) at CDU are eligible for the CDU Global Merit Scholarship; returning students are not. 

4. If a student accepts a package offer that includes several course offers, the scholarship will be applied to all of the courses that are eligible for it.

5. If a student changed programs and was previously eligible for the Global Merit Scholarship, the CDU Global Merit Scholarship can be used for their new program choice.

6. Students can’t combine the CDU Global Merit Scholarship with any other CDU scholarship.

7. Students cannot transfer the CDU Global Merit Scholarship to a third party, redeem it for cash, or apply to future study periods. 

8. The University reserves the right to terminate the CDU Global Merit Scholarship if the recipient:

  • Fails to meet the ongoing eligibility criteria
  • Violates the terms and conditions of the Scholarship/Letter of Offer/CoE.
  • Violated the Code of Conduct-Students or any other university policy

English Language Requirements

Here are the approved English language tests:

  • CDU ELICOS
  • IELTS
  • TOEFL
  • PTE
  • Cambridge English Advanced
  • Common European Framework Certificate of English Proficiency

Note: Some courses might only accept particular English language examinations or require higher proficiency.
