Farm Technician (Portnalong)
Basic Salary £25,000 to £28,000 per annum
Ability to earn up to 15% per annum in a cyclical bonus, max bonus payable £7,500 to £8,400 per cycle
Overtime available at an enhanced rate.
About the job
Our farm technician position is essential to the success of our operations, responsible for maintaining the highest standards of salmon management. We require our technicians to continuously strive for improvement, while fulfilling all aspects of farm work to keep the team performing at their best. The role encompasses a range of duties, including but not limited to:
- Leading on feed, control and inspection of fish
- Site housekeeping and maintenance
- Inspection and maintenance of equipment and facilities around the farm
- Identification and reporting of sea lice levels
- Monitoring and maintaining fish health and welfare
- Daily environmental checks
- Boat handling around the farm
- Maintaining high biosecurity levels
- General farm tasks to keep the whole operation running
Ideal candidate
The ideal candidate should have an interest in the aquaculture industry and be willing to learn. They will be willing to expand their understanding and work hard on the job.
- Experience is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided
- You will be required to hold, or able to obtain, and retain an ML5 or ENG1 medical certificate
- Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to understand the aims of the site and to support the rest of the team to achieve these
- Respect for the need for safe working practices
- Drivers licence is essential. No driving licence? Don’t worry, we can help with the cost of lessons
