The smartphone market is over-saturated but even so, there are still demands for new models with more powerful processors, better cameras, and long-lasting battery life. While Google adapted to the new trend and came with a phablet, HTC remained loyal to its line of One model, making a mid-tier successor for the M7. Below are the full specs of both smartphones as to compare them, check out which one is worth you.
Displays, Dimensions and Designs
The One M8 has a similar design as its predecessor, but instead of plastic, the device features now an aluminum construction, and it’s 0.1mm slimmer, measuring 9.3mm. Its edges are curved and there are two thin horizontal strips on the back, one that is between the dual cameras, and the other one is situated at the top, and on the front panel, you’ll see the dual front-facing
speakers. The device has a height of 146.4mm and weighs 160grams, featuring a 5inches Super LCD3
screen with 1080×1920 pixels and 441ppi.
The Nexus 6 performs better with its higher resolution of 1440×2560 pixels, but, also, has a bigger display of 5.96inches which is AMOLED, and like all of the screens made by Samsung, it offers sharper and vibrant images. The device was created by Motorola and borrowed Moto X’s design, or at least its back is almost identical – a small dimple with the M logo in it, under the rear camera, and at the top, there’s a dip, but the frame is metallic and this gives it a premium look. The device is quite uncomfortable to hold because it’s heavy – 184grams and has a thickness of 10.1mm. In addition, the body is weakly protected against water.
Hardware
The One M8 is inferior in terms of performance, featuring an older Qualcomm MSM8974AB Snapdragon 801 chipset with quad-core 2.5GHz/2.3GHz Krait 400 processor and uses Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM. HTC One M8 runs on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat but it's upgradeable to 5.0 Lollipop. The Nexus 6 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core Krait 450 processor with a clock speed of 2.7GHz, backed by an Adreno 420 GPU and has 3GB of RAM and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
This combination is also found on the Galaxy Note 4.
In terms of memories, things are in favor of the One M8, because it supports a microSD card slot and allows you to expand the 16 or 32GB variants of memories up to 128GB.
The Nexus 6 has built-in storage with two options – 32GB or 64GB.
The One M8 has a smaller battery of 2600mAh with 20 hours of talktime. The Nexus 6 supports 4 more hours on its 3220mAh battery.
Cameras
The One M8 failed with the dual 4MP cameras on the back, although they can take great pictures in low light conditions. But, compared to other cameras, this phone can’t take pictures of a higher quality and the fans prefer to take selfies with the front camera, which is 5MP. The
Nexus 6 is equipped with a 13MP primary shooter, which comes bundled with features including optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash, photosphere, touch focus, etc. The video capture has a higher resolution of 2160p@30fps compared to 1080p@60fps,
but the front camera is 2MP.
Prices
These smartphones aren’t affordable, but their prices will drop in time, if you have enough patience to wait until you’ll have enough money to buy one of them. Now, on
